Summary

The aim of this project is to develope two modules concerning the "Basic Course in Medicine" for students in the third year medical curriculum. Three Swiss universities collaborate in the production of the modules which comprehend the four basic topics of clinical medicine: pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and clinical medicine. Students are able to learn in a problem-, organ- or case-oriented manner, often interactive. The web course is launched nation-wide and allows faculties to integrate it into their local curricula as they choose. The web-course gives students the opportunity to get an autonomous yet structured access to the basic topics of clinical medicine either as a self-study program or as a complementary learning tool. The program provides a lively forum, wich is moderated by a senior lecturer, as well as quizes and self-assessment forms.
